A Oklahoma City news station reporter and photographer were allegedly shot at by a woman who lives near a crime scene they were investigating.
According to the news station, Abby Broyles with News Channel 4 (KFOR) and her photographer were in southern Logan County reporting on a possible connection between a homicide in Blaine County and a brutal beating that took place in Logan County two weeks ago. The place of the attack was not far where they were reporting. Related story: Guthrie man is person of interest in Blaine Co. homicide
The news station says Bobbie Meeks pointed a gun at Broyles. She called out to her photographer to take cover, and she was able to duck a split-second before the woman pulled the trigger.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and arrested Meeks. She was arrested for shooting with intent to kill.
On Friday afternoon inside the Logan County Courthouse, Meeks was in front of a judge via a video camera. The District Attorney’s Office reported to the judge about the probable cause affidavit provided by the Sheriff’s Office, but said they did not have enough time to review the case to come up with a formal charge.
A formal charge is expected early next week.
The attorney’s office says Meeks is a violent person and is a dangerous individual to the public and to the reporter and photographer. The judge approved the district attorney’s bail amount of $250,000 and is not to have contact with the two victims.
Meeks told the judge, “I was on private property. I did not shoot at them (sic) people.”
