Coltrane Road project receives new funding; County to save $1M

District 1 County Commissioner Marven Goodman announced new funding has been approved for the Coltrane Road project and will save Logan County approximately a million dollars.

The funding was approved just last week for Phase I and will provide a new roadway between Seward Road and Simpson Road, according to Goodman.

The Commissioner says the cost estimate is $3.1 million dollars for the two miles and could possibly be completed by next winter.

The project is expected to go out for bid in June.

The project is set to receive an additional $927,885 in federal grant funds with the remaining to be paid from the available County Improvements for Roads and Bridges (CIRB) funds.

“This is great news for the residents of South Logan County and will provide a continuous four miles of new roadway between Seward Road and Simmons Road, with a savings to the county of almost one million dollars in federal grand funds,” Goodman said in a social media post.

“The federal grant can now allow us to reuse that much more of our CIRB funds to complete the first mile of Coltrane north of Waterloo road possibly in 2019, which will complete the entire Coltrane project.”
