David Wade Memorial Active Attack Conference set to begin

Heartland Medical Direction, the Oklahoma Sheriff’s Association, and the Grady County EMS District are pleased to announce the first Active Attack Conference in Oklahoma.

July 22-24, at the Rose State Professional Training Center, leading experts from across the United States will be offering classes for local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services and dispatchers.

The 1st Annual David Wade Memorial Active Attack Conference will focus on preparation for an active attack, and in the unfortunate event of one occurring, how to respond and focus on the aftermath of the event. In addition, first responders will be offered train the trainer courses to be able to deliver Stop the Bleed training and the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event courses. These two courses teach the general public how to respond to active attacks and what life saving measures they can provide in the minutes following.

The 1st Annual David Wade Memorial Active Attack Conference is in memory of Deputy Sheriff David James Wade. Deputy Wade was killed in the line of duty on April 18, 2017. David served not only the citizens of Logan County, but he had also been a member of the Oklahoma National Guard and served both his State and Country. He was deployed on a peacekeeping mission in Bosnia as a member of the 179th Infantry.

David valued education. He received dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of Central Oklahoma in both criminal justice and forensic science. According to David’s family, “this is the kind of course David would attend.”

David’s faith in God, country and family made him a true hero. He dedicated his life to helping others and it is our hope that this conference will enable other first responders to better serve their communities.
