The Guthrie defense forced four turnovers on Woodward resulting in 17 points and en route to a 38-6 win to remain unbeaten.
The Bluejays improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in district 5A-2, while Woodward drops their season record to 2-4.
The Jays defense has now turned their opponent over 23 times on the year, or nearly four times per game.
Guthrie’s offense needed four plays to score their first touchdown after Woodward fumbled the ball on their opening drive. Quarterback Jackson Waddell found a wide-open Marcellus Owens in the north end zone.
The Boomers turned the Bluejays over on a muff punt and cashed in with a touchdown. However, the extra point was blocked to keep the score at 7-6.
From there, Guthrie scored 31 unanswered points, including 24 points in the second quarter.
Waddell passed for his second touchdown to Brody Hinkle (21 yards) and a third touchdown to CJ Ward (69 yards).
Ward finished the night with three touchdowns with runs of 9 and 53 yards.
Guthrie turns their attention to the two-time defending state champion Carl Albert Titans, who will enter Jelsma Statdium with an undefeated 6-0 mark.
