Our road district has received excellent feedback from our residents on our upcoming road and bridge projects this week. The right of way utility relocation continues on Coltrane between Waterloo and Seward and is contracted to be finished no later than August 6, 2015. Rural Water District 1 is currently relocating utilities in support of expanded right of way preparation.

We have engaging a land surveyor to begin re-staking the right of way for Simpson Lane project next week. Simpson Lane project will resurface Simpson Lane from Broadway to Coltrane (Simpson Lane, Ward Road, Simpson Road). The project plan is scheduled to finish the same time as the Coltrane project South to Waterloo sometime mid-year 2017. The total funding for the project is approximately $675,000 to resurface Simpson Lane from Broadway to Coltrane.
The paving contract for the asphalt overlay project on Charter Oak from Broadway to Kelly was awarded to Atlas paving and they are scheduled to being around the first of July. We anticipate finishing the overlay of that mile first part of August. We have started the road preparation by filling the potholed areas last week.
We have attended several meetings with state transportation officials this last week. One in particular with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) concerning the need to widen the narrow channel under the bridge at the Cottonwood Creek on Broadway & Camp Road. The downstream bank erosion has increased since the old pony bridge was replaced in 2012 and is threatening to erode the tree line. We will start working to widen this channel and fix this problem this August, as soon as the spring rains subside and the creek is no longer full of spring runoff.
