Steps are continuing to be taken for the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover Tour slated for Guthrie in September. The highlight of the weekend will feature the Grammy winning group Mumford & Sons.

Mumford & SonsThe City announced on Feb. 5 they landed several bands to perform in Guthrie on Sept. 6th and 7th. Along with the megastar band, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Willy Mason, Alabama Shakes, The Vaccines, Bear’s Den, Half Moon Run and Those Darlins are slated for the Cottonwood Flats and downtown streets of Guthrie.

On Tuesday’s city council meeting, the Guthrie council unanimously (5-0) voted to close down several streets in the downtown area for exclusive use of a downtown festival (see list of streets below). The streets will begin to be blocked off at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5 until 2 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8.

The downtown event is separate from the concert in the Cottonwood Flats.

JAM Productions is producing the concert and festival productions. JAM will charge $5 per day per person fee to access the restricted downtown area. The production company will provide the City with 1,500 downtown admission bracelets to assist local business that will be affected by street closures.

JAM, through the Oklahoma Tax Commission, will share the City’s sales tax on ticket sales, food, beverage and merchandise for the event. Also included, JAM will pay 3% pm all parking sales and parking ticket sales on parking on generated revenue.

  1. So for those of us that live downtown in the “restricted” area, we get a free $5 admission band for being inconvenienced for 4 days. That sounds about par for the course.
