Bookmark and Share

Just after 8:00 Sunday evening, the Guthrie Fire Department was dispatched out to a grass fire just North of Industrial Road on Pine Street.

The fire started on the East side of Pine, but jumped the road and burned portions of the land on the West side of Pine Street. About 40 acres was burned up in the fire. View photo gallery.

Firefighters were forced to evacuate a half-dozen homes as the grass fire threatened the city’s southeast side. They were allowed back to their houses shortly after the fire was contained at around 9:45 p.m.

The Guthrie Fire Department was assisted by Coyle, Deer Creek, Meridian and Sooner Fire Departments.

It is believed fireworks was the source of the fire. There is currently no ban in Logan County, but a burn ban continues inside the Guthrie city limits.

No reports of injuries and no structures were damaged.
