Follow Up: Two brothers help car fire victim on I-35

Updated on March 1, 2019 at 7 p.m. — Before the fire department could arrive to a burning vehicle on Interstate 35, two brothers were able to keep the flames down.

On Thursday the Guthrie Fire Department responded to mile marker 164 for the fire, and upon arrival found flames coming out from the engine.

Jay Andrews and his brother were traveling in separate vehicles when they spotted the burning vehicle.

Andrews’ brother was driving a Penske truck ahead of him when they decided to stop and help, despite being two hours behind their schedule.

Inside the Penske truck was a fire extinguisher, which was used to help knock down some of the flames.

“God played a role in that incident,” Andrews said. “I ran and got the extinguisher from my brother and sprinted into action.”

Andrews said, “I felt God told me to stop despite the delay to help.”

Hi my name John Duncomb aka Jay Andrews. If you want the full story on that car fire here is the link and video. But in reality if we didn’t stop there may have been injuries because when I arrived the lady and gentleman were too close to the car in case of explosion and the fire was more engulfed before the fire department got there I was able to spray out most of the flames but not alll so I slowed it down. My brother drove the Penske moving truck and I followed behind so if he didn’t pull over even tho we were two hour behind schedule I wouldn’t have had an extinguisher God played a role in that incident because if we hadn’t made a side stop previous I would have never saw and pointed out a fire extinguishers to my brother who didn’t see it there till I said something. But as we drove by he reacted quick we pulled over and I ran and got the extinguisher from my brother and sprinted into action. So if you want to post a good story don’t put the spotlight on me and my brother we don’t want that nor are hero’s but I felt God told me to stop dispite the delay to help. Motivate people to do a good deed even if we are busy something to motivate kindness that all. But here’s the links of my story and video.
