Construction continues to move forward on Guthrie High School’s new wrestling practice building, with crews now framing both the exterior and interior walls despite recent rounds of heavy rain.
Framing work began Monday and is continuing throughout the week as the standalone facility starts to take shape on the high school campus.
Once completed, the building will feature two full-size locker rooms—one for the boys wrestling program and one for the girls—along with coaches’ offices and a spacious practice room capable of accommodating two full-size wrestling mats.
The new facility is expected to be completed in late fall and will provide a significant upgrade for Guthrie’s wrestling programs by offering expanded practice space and dedicated locker rooms.
While practices will move into the new building, home wrestling duals and matches will continue to be held inside the Guthrie High School gymnasium.
The wrestling facility is one of several projects funded through the school bond issue overwhelmingly approved by Guthrie voters in August 2024.
The standalone building is being constructed adjacent to the current wrestling room. Once the new practice facility is complete, the existing wrestling space will be renovated into separate locker rooms for the boys and girls wrestling teams.
