The Guthrie High School band program took several students for the first round all-state and all-district band competition. Afterwards, the program returned with 11 students earning honors.
Band members traveled to Owasso this past weekend for the competition and qualified eight for the second round of all-state competition, including Selena McMichael, Miranda Cowden, Jason Salazar, Kaitlyn Walls, Abby Robertson, John McWhirter, Tyler Porter and Caleb Cowden.
Six more students were named to the All-District Honor Band, including Porter, Wallis, McWhirter, Cowden, Joshua Blackston and Jessica Longley
“They will represent Guthrie on January 9 and perform with the band on January 10 at Stillwater High School,” band director Rob Blackburn said. “Congratulations, band students!”
