Guthrie drops regular season finale to Ponca City

Madison Dutton did all he could to give the Guthrie softball team a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past Ponca City, as the Lady Jays drop the regular season finale 10-6 in Ponca City on Thursday.

Dutton racked up two RBIs on two hits for Guthire. She singled in the second inning and homered for the second time this season in the fourth inning.

Ponca City was sparked by Camenda Osborn and Kaylie Murry, who teamed up for five hits and five RBIs.

Ponca City jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Lady Wildcats attack began with a single from Osborn. A groundout  moved Osborn from first to third. Kenzie Lyons singled, plating Osborn.

Guthrie scored six runs in the fourth, due in large part to a solo blast off the bat of Dutton.

Ponca City never trailed after scoring five runs in the fourth on two doubles, a groundout by Lyons, and an RBI single by Murry.

Ponca City increased its lead with three runs in the fifth. A single by Murry ignited the offense,, scoring Claren McCormick. That was followed up by Osborn’s two-run home run, plating Murry.
