Guthrie Public Schools is once again stepping up to ensure that no child goes hungry this summer with the launch of their Summer Feed Program. Running from June 3 to June 27, the program offers free meals to all children 18 years old and younger, providing a vital resource for the community during the summer break.
Meals will be available Monday through Thursday at multiple locations, ensuring accessibility for all children in the area. At Guthrie Upper Elementary School, breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., followed by lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Additionally, Guthrie High School will provide lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
For added convenience, the program includes several mobile sites for lunch only, aiming to reach children in various neighborhoods. The mobile sites and their schedules are as follows:
- Building of Champions (1615 N. Walnut): 9:30 a.m. – 9:50 a.m.
- Mineral Wells Park (819 S. Division St): 11 a.m. – 11:20 a.m.
- Banner Park (11th and Warner Ave.): 11:30 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
- Harvest Road and Winter Wheat Drive (new housing addition by Silver Valley housing addition): 12 p.m. – 12:20 p.m.
The program emphasizes the importance of community and togetherness, requiring that all meals be consumed on-site. No grab-and-go meals will be permitted, ensuring that children can enjoy their meals in a safe and supervised environment.
This initiative reflects Guthrie Public Schools’ commitment to supporting the well-being of its students beyond the classroom. By providing nutritious meals, the program helps to bridge the gap for many families who rely on school-provided meals during the academic year.
