Guthrie Public Schools to resume offering COVID testing

Beginning Monday, December 13th, Guthrie Public Schools will once again partner with Total Wellness to host a testing hub available for GPS staff members, students, Logan County first responders, City of Guthrie employees and immediate family members of each group listed.

This will allow for rapid COVID, flu and strep tests as well as a telehealth visit with a provider and no appointment is necessary. This service has been provided when warranted by demand.

The testing hub is located at Cotteral Elementary School (2001 W. Noble Ave.). The testing will be conducted in a portable classroom located on the South side of the building. Patients should park along Cleveland St. on the south side of the school. School officials remind people to not try and enter the main building.

The hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday when school is in session. GPS employees, students, City of Guthrie employees or Logan County first responders as well as their family members, will be required to bring their work ID or proof of employment. Your telehealth visit and testing are covered through your insurance plan. Co-pays and deductibles are waived.

When an employee, student, family members or first responders are presenting a fever or other symptoms related to COVID or another illness, site staff can direct these persons to the testing hub at Cotteral Elementary. Total Wellness staff will work with students, and their parents to conduct the telehealth visit with the provider. If authorized by parents, student testing can be  onducted to rule out COVID, flu, or strep. If necessary for treatment, the Total Wellness provider can call in a prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.

Any employee, student or parent of a student who exhibits symptoms during the school day should report to the office of their school immediately. We urge parents to keep their children home if they are symptomatic of COVID as defined in the GPS COVID protocols. If a test is called for based on the conditions set forth by the Oklahoma State Department of Health, you’re urge you to take advantage of the option we are providing or options through the Logan County Health Department or other health providers.

If you have any questions about this service, please email covid19@guthrieps.net.
