Bishop McGuinness had the best football player on the field Friday night, and that was the difference in a 28-20 win over Guthrie.
The Irish totaled 336 yards of total offense, which 280 yards came from one player.
Dominic Richardson, a running back, receiver, punt returner and just about everything else, finished with 219 rushing yards on 23 carries, two receptions for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bluejays (7-2) were similar in offense with 325 yards in offense, including 191 yards in the air with 16 of 23 passing.
Guthrie jumped out to a 7-0 first quarter lead after senior quarterback Jackson Waddell scampered in from 44-yards out down the Bluejay sideline and into the north end zone.
In the second quarter and trailing 14-7, Waddell spotted senior wide receiver Marcellous Owens in stride for a 76-yard score. However, a failed two-point try kept the Irish on top of the scoreboard, 14-13.
Guthrie scored a late touchdown in the fourth quarter as Waddell hit Josh Rains for a 27-yards score.
With the loss, Guthrie will finish third in the district and will be on the road for the first round of the playoffs. The Jays will either travel to Duncan or Altus, who play each other to finish out the regular season.
