The Guthrie Lady Jays golf team is headed to the Class 5A State Tournament following solid performances in both conference play and regional competition.
Under head coach Jason Rice, Guthrie finished fourth overall at the Suburban Conference tournament held at John Conrad Golf Course, placing second among Suburban Conference teams. The Lady Jays posted a team score of 346, finishing behind Duncan, Carl Albert, and Oklahoma Christian School.
Individually, Mallory Lemon led the way with a 77 to finish third overall, while Tatum Brown carded a 79 to place seventh. Olivia Riley shot a 93 for 30th place, Taegan Reyes finished 39th with a 97, and Maely Beeby placed 52nd with a 104.
At the Class 5A West Regional held at Duncan Golf and Tennis Club, Guthrie placed fourth as a team with a score of 367 to secure a spot in the state tournament. Duncan won the regional, followed by McGuinness and Carl Albert.
Brown led Guthrie at regionals with an 87 to finish eighth, while Lemon shot a 91 to place 15th. Reyes and Riley each finished tied for 22nd with scores of 99, and Beeby shot a 116.
The Lady Jays will now compete at the Class 5A State Tournament scheduled for May 4 and 5 at Shangri-La.
