Lewis tops the leader board after day one at state

Guthrie’s McCandren Lewis shot a 74 Wednesday afternoon to put herself in position to win a state championship.

Lewis, a senior, along with McGuinness’ sophomore Alexis Sadeghy are tied for the top individual spot as they enter the final day at Oklahoma City’s Lincoln Park Golf Course.

However, right behind them is three-time state champion and Oklahoma State commit Megan Blonien from Altus with a 75.

Lewis talked with The Oklahoman’s Scott Wright and told him she has to play her game.

“I played well, but I know there were a couple holes I struggled on,” she said. “I’ve just got to play my game. That’s what I did (Wednesday). I just played for me.”

McGuinness and Duncan lead the team standings with Deer Creek in third.
