Library book discussion group

Guthrie Public Library’s book discussion series Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma! is still going strong. Staff and customers alike are anticipating the final meeting of the spring season at 6 pm on Monday, April 27. The meeting will feature two books, Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen and Mistress of Mellyn by Victoria Holt, and there are still books available for check out for those interested in reading and join in on what’s sure to be a lively discussion.

Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma! is open to everyone and focuses on a specific theme for each series. After a brief summer break, a new series begins this fall with the theme “Oklahoma Experience: Wilderness to Metropolis.” Books include A Tour on the Prairies by Washington Irving, Sand in My Eyes by Seigniora Russell Laune, Catalogue by George Milburn and Briarpatch by Ross Thomas. Discussions will begin with an engaging and interesting presentation by a local scholar who is deeply knowledgeable about the book, followed by lively group discussion. Meetings will be held on the fourth Monday of each month from 6 – 8 pm and refreshments will be served on discussion nights. Guthrie Public Library has plenty of copies of each book- simply stop by the Library and pick up your copy today! Those who don’t have a chance to read the book are still welcome and will certainly take away something from the discussion.
