The Oklahoma Republican is chairman of the House Agriculture Committee so it was not a surprise he started the meeting by talking about the 2013 farm bill, that was recently rejected by the House.

Lucas said he will do what he has to do to get the bill passed that focuses on feeding programs and raising food.

Other topics Lucas brought up to the gallery, included the National Security Administration (NSA), the tax code and immigration. According to the Congressman, immigration was the most popular topic in the town meetings held in Pawnee, Pawhuska, Skiatook, Cushing and Stillwater.

Lucas later took time-out for a 35-minute question and answer session with a group of 50 people seated inside the Oklahoma Sports Museum.

Among the topics asked by citizens, that Lucas spent a good part of the time speaking on, was agriculture, sequestration and the current administration.
