Man dies in southern Logan County following vehicle accident

A Guthrie man died in a single vehicle accident early Wednesday morning near a well-known intersection.

According to a collision report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2002 Chevrolet driven by Howard Wiley was eastbound on Charter Oak and departed the roadway to the left for an unknown reason.

The vehicle struck a culvert causing the vehicle to roll an unknown number of times.

The accident happened at approximately 1:52 a.m. a quarter mile west of Douglas Blvd.

Wiley, 65, was pronounced deceased at scene by Guthrie Fire and EMS with external and internal injuries.

The OHP report says the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

Other emergency departments assisting with the accident was the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Woodcrest Fire Department and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
