It was a busy day for the Guthrie Fire Department and Police as they worked multiple vehicle accidents on Thursday.
Crews responded just before 11 am to South Division with a two-vehicle accident in front of Mission Hills, a housing addition.
A red, two-door Nissan appeared to smash into a black, four-door Volkswagen that sent two to the hospital with non-emergency transfers. The impact caused the Volkswagen’s air bag to deploy.
Just before 3:30 crews responded to a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Cleveland and Wentz.
A red Toyota Prius failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck a Dodge pickup truck. The Prius was on Cleveland and started to head west across Wentz. The impact of the crash forced the Prius to slide into a third vehicle, who was at a stop sign.
Both the Prius and Dodge needed a wrecker to take the vehicles away.
A third traffic accident occurred just before 6:00 p.m. on South Division and Prairie Grove. Officials describe the wreck as minimal between a four-door Sedan and a pickup truck. No wrecker or EMS was requested.
The day begin when a semi truck’s load was too tall to go under the Interstate 35 and Highway 33 bridge after 9 a.m. The west bound truck measured in at 16 feet and 9 inches and the bridge sign displayed 14 feet and ten inches.
