Officers of the Guthrie FFA chapter participates in 2015 Oklahoma FFA

Chapter Officer Leadership Training Conference September 22, at the Enid Events Center in Enid.

The eight state FFA officers planned and conducted this year’s conference based on the theme, “How to put the IN in Involved.” Elected officers from each of the 61 high school FFA chapters in the northwest district attended leadership training designed to equip them with exciting tools for creating a successful chapter.

Josh Brecheen, Coalgate, was the keynote speaker for the conference.  Brecheen, state FFA president in 1998-99, is a state senator, horse trainer and accomplished speaker.

“We asked chapter officers to rate their involvement in school and in FFA,” said Drake Boyce, state FFA president.  “Then we share those ideas with each other to become more involved in these areas.  It is important for us to set the “involvement” example for our chapter members.”

Breyden Codding, Guthrie FFA chapter president, had the opportunity to serve as one of six Opening Ceremonies Officers. This prestigious occasion allowed Codding to perform the Official Opening Ceremonies to 366 FFA members across the Northwest district. “I was honored to represent the Guthrie FFA chapter by serving as an opening ceremonies officer. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Codding.

COLT Conference is sponsored by Public Service Company of Oklahoma as a special project of the Oklahoma FFA Foundation.  FFA is an integral part of the agricultural education division of the Oklahoma Department of CareerTech Education.  There are 27,154 Oklahoma FFA members in 356 high schools statewide.
