Meridian Technology Center to host free event; “The Uncertain Certainty of Taxes”

STILLWATER, Okla. – As a new business owner, if you make a sale – you know you’ve got to collect the sales tax. But what does that really mean? How much tax do you collect? Are there exceptions to when you have to collect taxes?

On Friday, October 30, Dewey Brandon from the Oklahoma Tax Commission will present a free tax workshop at the Meridian Technology Center for Business Development. Bookkeeping in the US is a little different from Bookkeeping in Melbourne, as well as other parts of the world, so it’s important to ensure that you’re doing it correctly to avoid any mistakes.

Brandon will discuss essential tax information for new and established businesses. Workshop attendees will learn the keys to sales tax registration and collection, along with helpful tips on rate tables, reporting formats, and exemptions. Topics include:
New Business Needs

* Business structures
* Steps for formation types
* Business registration
* Bookkeeping techniques
* Primary tax forms
