Road projects coming to major roadways; sidewalks near Division, Noble

Motorists in Guthrie will need to prepare for traffic delays this summer as the two most traveled roads in Guthrie are about to get a make over. In addition, pedestrians may soon be walking on sidewalks along Division St. and Noble Ave.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) will soon begin a $2.4M resurfacing project on US-77 (Division St.) and Highway 33 (Noble Ave.).

Before the resurfacing project begins, road crews with Haskell Lemon Construction will begin shoulder work at W. Grant Ave. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and continuing daily through May 19 for preliminary surface repairs ahead of the larger resurfacing project slated to begin in early June.

In June, Division St. will be resurfaced from Industrial Road to Noble Ave. Motorists can expect northbound and southbound traffic on Division St. to be narrowed to one lane in each direction.

Later in the summer, Noble Ave. will also be resurfaced from Drexel St. on the east side of town all the way to 19th Street on the west side, except for the Cottonwood Creek bridge and roadway that was constructed in 2018.

Work generally will occur from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily Monday-Saturday until work completes in winter 2020, weather permitting.

ODOT officials tell Guthrie News Page they expect an estimated $1.2M sidewalk project along S. Division St. from Industrial Road to Noble Ave. and from Noble Ave. to Drexel St. to go out for bid later this summer.

Good news for all’a Guthrie. Our roads are in disrepair. The most damage is from the huge trucks grinding the pavement.

Great news! Glad to see a sidewalk will now stretch from downtown Guthrie past the Walmart shopping area. This has been needed for many years.
