The Guthrie Public Library recently brought in a new director – Cyndi Selinger.

She is originally from Auburn, California, which she says is like a small town similar to Guthrie. She was in the Air Force for eight years as an intelligence analyst, and spent four years at the Choctaw library before she started at Guthrie on December 20th.

Selinger came to Guthrie because she thought it was the perfect fit. “It’s a great opportunity and I’m really excited.”

“This is an awesome community; everyone is so warm and welcoming. It’s an honor to be here.” Selinger said.

Her goals for the library are adding eBooks to the collection, and to get more involved in the animal adoptions that they have annually. Also, she’d like to get more involved with the festivals that go on in Guthrie.

As for new changes, she is still in observation mode. “I’m still learning, and coming up with ideas to improve.” Her main focus is to serve the community and have plenty of resources.
