An early morning blow-out tire shut down Interstate 35 for more than 90 minutes Wednesday morning after a semi-truck that was headed south bound ended up in the north bound lanes.
The accident occurred at mile marker 157, near the north Guthrie exit.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a semi truck driver’s side front tire blew causing him to go into the cable barrier. However, the barrier did not stop the truck and ended came to a halt in the north bound lanes with the barrier cable snagged on the truck.
Luckily, no vehicles were in the lanes when the truck came over the median at around 5:15 a.m. Approximately 150 yards of the cable barrier was taken out.
Logan County Deputies, along with the Guthrie Police Department and Fire Department, responded to the accident.
There were no injuries reported.
Traffic was diverted to the on-ramps, around the crash before the highway was reopened at around 7 a.m.
You are the “ONLY” one that got this story rite!! All the news Chanel’s said the cable worked by stopping the truck in fact it didn’t it’s only suppose to allow about 8 ft of travel when hit. The truck went completely thru the cable and stretched it 40ft into oncoming traffic!! I know I worked it!!
