An early Saturday morning fire destroyed a house that a family had called home for 30 years.
Five fire departments (Guthrie, Sooner, Woodcrest, Coyle and Oak Cliff) responded to the 500 block of E. Noble just before 3 a.m.
Luckily, both people inside were able to escape the home without injuries.
“Fortunately, we located the possible victims rather quickly and protected exposures avoiding further loss,” Captain John Fairless said.
Firefighters were forced to take a defensive stance on the structure with two nearby structures.
Along with the fire departments, the Guthrie Police Department, Logan County Red Cross and Emergency Manager David Ball assisted with the blaze.
The cause of the fire was undetermined and continues to be investigated.
“We are all devastated and very heartbroken right now,” a family member said. “That has been our family home for 30 years.”
