Football media guide has come a long way

Bookmark and Share

There’s a good chance when you attended the Guthrie-Duncan football game you needed a media guide to help learn the players and coaches names, schedules, and history of Guthrie sports.

The media guide continues to improve each season. The Guthrie Football Booster Club has turned an overnight project to a very proud resource.

Gail Davis, President of the Booster Club, is in her second year of taking over the duties of overlooking the project. Davis along with Juana Benson, Jeff Chappell, Merritt Roberts, Phil Nichols, Rafe Watkins, Traci Hayes, and Shurlyn Maltz headline the task.

Over the past few seasons you can see the progress that the guide has taken in appearance. The biggest enhancement the guide has adopted is color for the front, back, and inside covers.

This year, Hayes, who is a graphic designer, designed the front cover, multiple pages, and ads to help spruce the publication.

The front cover (pictured) has a football back ground with seniors of the football team and a varsity football schedule.

Members of the booster club go out in the community and sell advertising to fill the pages. The advertising money helps print the guides, which are printed by Midwest Publishing Company, and the remainder goes toward the football program. Afterwards, the programs are sold for $5.00 to the public and all proceeds go to the Guthrie Special Olympics.

The 60 page guide is the best yet and kudo’s to the crew this year.
