Jack Klein and Brice Betchen took on Emerald Falls, in Broken Arrow, for the second straight and final day at the Class 5A Golf State Tournament and in the process improved by 12 shots.
The Guthrie duo each improved and with the biggest improvement came from Klein. After an opening round score of 86, he came back with a 78 and finished just outside the top 10 with a 164.
Betchen went four below his day one score with an 81 to finish with a 166.
Ardmore won its third consecutive title and fifth in the last six years.
Nine of Ardmore’s 10 rounds were in the 70s and the Tigers won by 41 shots over Carl Albert, whose No. 1 player, Oklahoma State signee Talor Gooch, missed qualifying for the individual playoff by one shot.
Chickasha’s junior Taylor Williams won the individual race with a playoff over McAlester’s junior Casey Fernandez. Both shot a 148 over the two-day stretch.
