Video: Home destroyed on west side by fire

By the time the police and fire departments arrived to a west-side home was fully-involved with smoke and flames.

At around 3:30 p.m., Guthrie fire and police responded to the 200 block of Viking Dr. in the Silver Valley housing addition for a structure fire.

The initial report stated a vehicle may have exploded in the home’s garage and that people were believed to be inside. However, a police officer first arrived on the scene and confirmed that everyone inside the house was able to get out.

It was later confirmed that there was no vehicle inside the garage.

The Guthrie Fire Department, joined by the Crescent and Oak Cliff fire departments, needed several minutes to get the flames under control.

Fire Chief Dane Lausen said one person inside the home went to the garage found flames and quickly got everyone out, including one dog but another dog was unaccounted for at the scene.

Five people reportedly live inside the home and three people were home at the time of the fire. The American Red Cross arrived to the scene just after 5 p.m. to render immediate aid.

A black truck, parked outside in the driveway, was also heavily damaged. Both the house and truck are total losses.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
