Brothers to make trip to Missouri

The Missouri Tigers coaching staff have done a very good job in recent years evaluating  and recruiting linebackers to the University of Missouri.

Kentrell Brothers makes a catch over a Bixby's Dewitt Jennings III in the 2009 Class 5A state semi final game.

One target on their radar screen who seems to fit the mold of the type of Linebacker they have been recruiting of late if Guthrie (OK) OLB Kentrell Brothers 6’2”210lbs.

Brothers is a player who has been busy collecting the LB MVP at a recent Under Armour combine, as well as several new offers to his list and trying to plan visits he will be taking coming up.

“I picked up three new offers recently from UCONN, Kansas and Arizona to go with my offers from Missouri, Duke, Washington, Baylor, Iowa State and Tulsa.” said Brothers.

“My Uncle is in charge of coordinating my visits for me, so I am not sure when there are exactly, but I am pretty sure that I will be visiting Missouri coming up soon.”

I asked Kentrell if he thought that it might be the upcoming spring game on April 17th.
“ I think that is when it will be. I am not for sure but I will let you know. I do know for sure that Missouri is one of the schools I will be visiting along with Arkansas, Kansas and Kansas State.”

Brothers said that he enjoys Tiger coach Josh Henson that he is very interested in learning more about Missouri.

“I know Mizzou is a pretty good team. I feel really comfortable with their coaches. I know that they are good people and I am really looking forward to seeing the campus. My high school coach told me how nice everything is up there and that the campus is very pretty.”

The talented athlete recorded 94 tackles 17 sacks and 4 INTs  as a junior in 2009, but is also a gifted WR for his high school team. He hauled in 64 receptions for over 1,100 yards and 12 TDs.

“Missouri is recruiting me as an outside linebacker along with most every other team. Kansas is talking about me playing WR for them. I like defense, but it really doesn’t matter were I play as long as I get a good education and can play football.”

Brothers, who plays AAU basketball for the Oklahoma Hawks, told me that he would like to have a decision before the start of his senior year if possible, but that he will take his time to make sure he makes the right one.
