This month we are promoting fun activities for families to do during spring break here in Guthrie.  For example the family can rent a bicycle for the afternoon and cruise around town, or play golf at any of our four 18 hole championship courses. You can tour our world class museums, dine at one of our fine restaurants, shop till you drop at our local shops and enjoy professional entertainment at the Pollard Theater or listen to the Byron Berline Band at the Double Stop Music Hall.  The Chamber creates an email piece called the Guthrie Tattler that is sent out the first of every month. You can subscribe to it by going to our website at Guthrieok.com and clicking on the About Guthrie button then clicking on the Tattler button.

Thursday, we will have our annual awards banquet at the Guthrie Job Corps center. Tickets are 27.50 per person; if you would like to attend just give us a call at 282-1947. Friday, March 8th is the Crystal Ball at 7p.m. in the Dominion House. This is a black tie affair with a gourmet dinner, wine and dancing with the Al Good Orchestra along with an Art Auction. Call 260-2345 or 282-7778 for tickets.

An open casting call for a promotional video entitled “We Are Guthrie” will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Community Church (Fellowship Hall) near Exit 151 & Seward Road. Filming will start at 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. This video will showcase the amazing individuals that make Guthrie what it is today. No acting required! No speaking required! You will be prompted to lip sync one short line of music, do a few fun hand-gestures, and that’s it!

We want you as a Guthrie citizen, just as you are. If you are a football player, wear your uniform. If you are a musician, bring your instrument. If you are a plumber, bring your pipe wrench. If you’re an old-west gun slinger, we want you and your outfit. No guns please.  We are looking for fun and charismatic characters, as well as everyday folks. Be prepared to have fun in front of a camera for 1 to 2 minutes.

Things to remember: You will be asked to sign a model release form. Absolutely no brand names (local, collegiate, or otherwise), no icons or logos on tee shirts, caps or other apparel. No local business brands. Guthrie school team sports, cheer-leading and band uniforms are okay. You may have to stand in line for up to 30 minutes, or asked to come back at another time, so the wait is limited. We want happy bubbly folks that are proud of who they are and what they do!

Daylight savings time begins this weekend. Remember to set spring forward an hour this Saturday. This week’s Chamber Coffee is hosted by Benchmark Financials at City Hall in council chambers at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join us. Have a great week!
