The Guthrie Public Library will soon be going through some much needed Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades. To assist, the library was able to capture a grant to help with the upgrades.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Councilman Brian Bothroyd said of the upgrades.
In total, the library will receive $96,000 in ADA improvements. The funding sources, include $33,600 in a grant through the United States Department of Agriculture and $62,400 from the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) sales tax.
The project will provide new computer workstations, computers, beam seating, carpet, updated sliding glass doors, window improvements, electrical upgrades, exterior upgrades, signage to assist visual impaired citizens, chairs, book drop and a multi-vend to better serve individuals with disabilities.
