Construction officials provided an update on the ongoing renovations of the future Logan County Administration Building during the scheduled Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) meeting on Monday.
In February 2024, the BOCC approved the purchase of the Department of Human Services (DHS) building, located just east of the 1400 block of S. Division St., for $2.1 million from the Oklahoma Commissioners of the Land Commission (OCLC).

Additionally, the county assumed the land lease—for just over 30 years—from the OCLC, with a long-term goal of purchasing the land. Upon completion of the renovation, the new facility will house the County Clerk, Treasurer, Assessor, and BOCC offices. Currently, the Assessor and BOCC offices are located in the Annex Building and the County Clerk and Treasurer in the Courthouse.
The building, originally opened in 2006 for the Department of Human Services (DHS), is undergoing extensive renovations at an estimated cost of $3,091,864.12. This total includes a base construction cost of $2,470,527.17, with additional expenses for general conditions, liability, risk, bond, software, preconstruction, fees (5%), and project contingency (5%).

In July 2024, the BOCC entered an agreement with Timberlake to begin renovations.
Timberlake noted that construction bids came in lower than anticipated, allowing an additional $270,000 to be allocated to contingency due to a calculation error.
Timberlake Construction reported that interior work is progressing, including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical installations. Phase 2 of the project is set to begin in March, with completion expected by the end of July.
Once the transition is complete, the Logan County Courthouse will undergo interior renovations to enhance its judicial capacity as funding allows. The planned upgrades include two additional courtrooms, two jury rooms, and expanded space for the Court Clerk and District Attorney’s offices.
The renovation project is being funded in part by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021. Logan County received $9.3 million in ARPA funds in March 2022. The BOCC allocated the funds as follows:
- $1.5 million ($500,000 per district) for county road and bridge improvements
- $750,000 for Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicles and $250,000 for jail roof repairs
- $500,000 for courthouse security enhancements
- $300,000 in premium pay for county employees who worked during the public health emergency
- $250,000 for the county health department

The remaining $6 million was initially earmarked for restoring the County’s Six Story Building as a new county office facility. However, inspections revealed that the cost of full restoration would exceed available funds. The BOCC then explored building a new facility at the current Annex Building site for $7 million but later opted to purchase and renovate the DHS building and courthouse as a more cost-effective solution.
The Annex Building will temporarily accommodate the court system while renovations are underway at the courthouse. In the current long-term plan, the Election Board will relocate to the Annex, making space for the Sheriff’s Office to move the dispatch center into the former Election Board area.
