Sen. Griffin to hold Town Hall meeting; public urged to attend

State Sen. AJ Griffin will hold a town hall meeting this Thursday, February 27, at 5:30 p.m. at the Oklahoma Sports Museum in Guthrie.  Residents are all invited to attend to learn about the major issues of the 2014 legislative session and share their views on proposed bills as well as other issues affecting District 20.

AJ Griffin“I think it is important to make time to visit with people here in the district so that I can do the best job possible on their behalf in the Oklahoma State Senate,” said Griffin, R-Guthrie.  “There is a lot going on this year—we have challenges in a number of areas as we  deal with our constitutional requirement to balance the budget while funding important services like education, public safety and transportation.  There’s a lot of public policy on the table as well this session.”

Some of the issues that have received the greatest attention have included the ongoing effort to further strengthen Oklahoma’s pension systems, the efforts to fund long overdue repairs of the state Capitol building, education reform and economic development efforts; the latter has prompted a push by the Governor to approve a personal income tax reduction in the 2014 session.

“These are all issues that ultimately will affect everyone that calls Oklahoma home,” Griffin said.  ”I believe there is a shared desire by the members of the Legislature to make our home the best it can be but there are a lot of different ideas about the best way to achieve that goal.  I look forward to receiving input from my friends, neighbors and fellow citizens so I can best represent their vision of how we should make that happen.”

The Oklahoma Sports Museum is located at 215 West Oklahoma Avenue.  For more information about Thursday evening’s Town Hall Meeting, call Sen. AJ Griffin at 405-521-5628 or emailgriffin@oksenate.gov.
