Burn Ban in effect for Guthrie city limits

The Guthrie Fire Department placed the Guthrie city limits under a burn ban beginning Tuesday, Sept. 26.

“Due to the prolonged dry conditions, increasing fire danger and higher than normal temperatures, a city-wide burn ban is now in effect,” Fire Chief Eric Harlow said in a release.

Harlow added no burn permits will be issued in the Guthrie city limits, and all existing burn permits will be considered null and void.

In the past 60 days, Guthrie has officially received 3.06 inches of rainfall.

Logan County is in a D2 drought level (Severe Drought). A D2 level consist of dryland crops are severely reduced; pasture growth is stunted, cattle are stressed, and burn bans begin.

The ban does not affect charcoal or gas grilling done on a non-combustible surface. No other open flame activities will be permitted.

The ban is placed until further notice.
