Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux is celebrating a major milestone within the Logan County Sheriff’s Office as Undersheriff Troy Dykes has officially graduated from the FBI National Academy Class 298 in Quantico, Virginia.
In a personal statement, Sheriff Devereaux expressed both pride and gratitude for Dykes’ leadership and support within the department, describing him as more than just a colleague.
“I had the privilege and honor today to see my Undersheriff Troy Dykes graduate the FBI National Academy Class 298,” Devereaux said. “To say that Troy is much more than my Undersheriff would be an understatement. He has been my calm in the storms as well as a listening ear when I need a safe place to vent.”
Devereaux went on to highlight Dykes’ encouragement and steady leadership within the office, noting the close working relationship the two share. “Along with my wife, Troy keeps me grounded, and I can’t imagine being the Sheriff of Logan County Sheriff’s Office without him,” he said. “I love ya, brother, and am so proud of your accomplishments. I know the Academy isn’t a walk in the park, and you killed it.”
The FBI National Academy is internationally known for its advanced training in leadership, communication, and fitness. Session 298 included 255 law enforcement officers from 46 states and the District of Columbia, along with 29 international members representing 26 countries, five military organizations, and four federal civilian agencies.
Graduates complete a 10-week program at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia, where they receive advanced instruction from experienced FBI personnel and university-affiliated instructors. The program is highly selective, with participants averaging 21 years of law enforcement experience and typically returning to serve in executive leadership roles within their agencies.
FBI Director Kash Patel spoke at the graduation ceremony, and Class 298 was represented by spokesperson Charles Chapeau of the Georgia State Patrol.
Since its founding in 1935, more than 57,000 law enforcement officers from around the world have completed the prestigious program, which also offers accredited academic credit through the University of Virginia.
