Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell Visits Guthrie as Part of statewide workforce tour

Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell made a stop in Guthrie on Monday as part of his ongoing workforce development tour across the state. The event, hosted by the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce, was held at Meridian Technology Center and brought together local business owners, educators, and community leaders to discuss pressing workforce challenges.

Pinnell, who also serves as the state’s Secretary of Workforce & Economic Development, spoke on a range of topics impacting Oklahoma’s future, including tourism, the aerospace sector, the growing film industry, and the importance of career tech education. He also addressed infrastructure issues such as water and sewer line needs that are critical to community growth.

One local highlight during the discussion was Pinnell’s continued interest in supporting the restoration of the State Capital Publishing Museum in downtown Guthrie. He emphasized that he is actively seeking ways the state can play a role in preserving the historic site, which is a centerpiece of Guthrie’s rich heritage.

Pinnell’s role includes working with key agencies such as the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, aiming to strengthen the connection between workforce demands and economic development across the state.

His visit reinforced a message of collaboration between state leaders and local communities to build a workforce-ready Oklahoma prepared for future opportunities.
