Rep. Collin Duel wins third term in Oklahoma House District 31 race

Incumbent State Representative Collin Duel secured his third consecutive term in the Oklahoma House of Representatives on Tuesday, defeating challenger Karmin Grider in the Republican primary for House District 31.

Duel, who serves as the Assistant Majority Floor Leader, received 3,052 votes (57.37%), compared to Grider’s 2,268 votes (42.63%), according to unofficial election results. A total of 5,320 ballots were cast in the race.

The Logan County Election Board will look to certify the numbers on Friday.

The victory was fueled by strong support across House District 31, which includes 15 precincts in Logan County and two precincts in Oklahoma County. Duel won 13 of the 15 Logan County precincts and carried both Oklahoma County precincts.

Breaking down the results by area, Duel outpaced Grider by 156 votes in south Logan County and by 74 votes in the Oklahoma County portion of the district. His largest margin came in his hometown of Guthrie, where he collected 563 more votes than his opponent.

Nearly 29 percent of registered Republican voters in Logan County who were eligible to participate in the race cast a ballot.

Duel, who was first elected to the Oklahoma House in 2022, will now begin his third two-year term representing House District 31.

The race marked the third campaign for Grider in House District 31. She first sought the seat in 2020, challenging then-incumbent Representative Garry Mize in the Republican primary. Grider ran again in 2022 when the seat became open following Mize’s departure, finishing behind Duel in that race. Tuesday’s election marked her third attempt to represent the district in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
