The County Prepares for August Auction‏

The District 2 road crew has been working hard to finish rebuilding Harrah Rd. from SH 105 to CR 75 which was damaged in the 2008 floods. There is a timeline for completing this project since it is being paid for with FEMA funds. We have also been trying to catch up on asphalting potholes in the southwest part of the district. This work has been delayed somewhat by the storm which damaged the county on the night of August 9. The wind blew down trees which blocked many roads and had to be cleared.
For some time there has been a need to clean up our shop yard and rid it of piles of scrap metal which have accumulated over the years. As we began to take inventory of our resources, we determined it would be in the district’s best interest to auction off the metal as well as some equipment.
As word got out about our auction, the other two road districts, the sheriff’s office and other county departments expressed an interest in being a part of it. Consequently, quite a collection of items has been assembled, including a Bantam excavator, pneumatic roller, trucks, small buses, pickups, cars, piles of scrap metal, computers, televisions, desks, chairs, a fax machine, printers, copier, typewriter, camcorder and other miscellaneous items.
The auction will be held August 20, at 10:00 a.m. at 1550 N. Midwest Blvd. Gates will open at 8:00 that morning for those who wish to inspect items before the auction. You can view a copy of the handbill at and a few photos of items for sale at
