City of Guthrie receives 2026 “Partner in Progress” award

The City of Guthrie has been recognized for its commitment to workforce development and community growth, receiving the 2026 Partner in Progress Award.

The honor was presented by Meridian Technology Center through the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education during a ceremony held April 28 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

The award recognizes organizations that demonstrate strong support for career and technology education, workforce development, and community impact. Guthrie earned the recognition through its ongoing partnership with Meridian Technology Center.

Key initiatives highlighted include the development of a state-of-the-art police and fire training facility, known as Building C on Meridian’s South Campus, as well as economic development efforts such as support for the First Capitol Film Institute and collaboration between Meridian’s business incubator, The Peak, and the City’s downtown retail incubator, The Shoppes.

City Manager Eddie Faulkner said the partnership has played a major role in strengthening resources for first responders, supporting local businesses, and creating opportunities for students.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from Meridian and OkACTE,” Faulkner said. “Our collaboration with Meridian is a cornerstone of our strategy to provide better resources for our first responders, support our local entrepreneurs, and create a thriving environment for our students. This award belongs to the entire community that supports these visions.”

Councilwoman Menecca Gibbs and Economic Development Director Shawnda Rooney represented the City of Guthrie at the award ceremony.
