Mike Tiderman, along with his son Justin Tiderman, were remembered and honored with a celebration of their life and a memorial plaque was revealed for all to remember.
Family, friends, coaches, and teammates came back to Squires Field, where Mike Tiderman played for the Jays, and talked their memories of the friend, teammate, brother, son, and husband.
Tiderman’s No. 19 jersey was draped on the first base dugout and was removed by his family to show the plaque that will stay for all to see. Click here for the photo gallery.
Some of those returning back to Squires Field for the celebration was former GHS coaches Gerald Reed and Willie Young, Tiderman’s coaches, along with current head coach Jon Chappell.
Former players including Joey Jackson, Mark Walker, and Zach Robbins were in attendance.

Homecoming is an event that brings friends, family, and alumni back to Guthrie and remember the good old days as well as catch up with the new days. For the Guthrie High School Class of 1987 and the family of Michael Tiderman, this weekend will be more special.
The Tiderman family and friends are holding a celebration at Squires Field, on Sunday afternoon (October 10th) at 2:00, to celebrate the life of Michael Tiderman: a husband, father, firefighter, friend, and classmate.
Tiderman, a GHS 1987 alum and a firefighter for the Oklahoma City Fire Department for 17 years, was killed, along with his 11-year-old son, Justin, in a head-on crash on May 17, 2007 when another car crossed the median and struck the Tiderman vehicle as they were returning from Justin’s little league baseball game.
With temperatures expected in the lower 80’s Sunday afternoon, everyone is invited to take part in the celebration at Squires Field where Michael Tiderman played his home baseball games for the Jays.
i can remember seeing him in the hallway every morning at school and around the school yard my sister was friends with his sister in h.s. so it was like when we went to their house we saw him and everytime i go by his house i can remember the times we had just going there it brings back some memories for me i wish he was still here i would tell him that.
