It was nearly a full 14-weight class dual between third ranked Guthrie and 10th ranked Western Heights on Homecoming Night 2012 inside the Guthrie High School gymnasium.

The BlueJays took advantage of five falls and a forfeit en route to a 50-18 win over the Jets Thursday evening. Guthrie improves to 5-0 on the dual season and will turn around and participate in the Carl Albert Tournament on Friday.

Freshmen Alex Nelson continues his winning ways in dual action by collecting a major decision, 11-2.

Forest Stegner got back in the win column at 120 pounds with a pin (2:26). Timothy O’Connor, Devin Bilyeu, Conner Howard and John Davison also collected falls. Howard, O’Connor and Davison needed less than a period to collect their pin.

Jared and Justin Ball each came away with narrow decisions. Justin (138 pounds) recorded a 2-0 defensive battle while Jared took a one-point win, 5-4.

Bryan Dutton remained perfect (13-0) with a 16-3 major decision. Fellow state champion Landry Chappell received a forfeit for the second straight dual to move his season record to 6-0.

  1. Good stuff. Really going to try to make the Deer Creek dual. Are Dutton and Pacheco going to be at the same weight?
