A southern Logan County man accused of stabbing two people following an altercation at a downtown bar has now been formally charged in Logan County District Court.
Ricky Marchant, 39, appeared by video before Special Judge Diane Vaughan on Tuesday and was formally advised of the charges against him.
Marchant is charged with Assault and Battery by Means or Force Likely to Produce Death, a Class A3 felony, and Assault, Battery, or Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, a Class B4 felony.
Assistant District Attorney Matthew Adams appeared on behalf of the state during the initial court appearance.
Associate Judge Diane Vaughan set Marchant’s bond at $500,000 and ordered him to have no contact with the two victims.
The next court case has been scheduled for September 3 at 2 p.m.
The charges stem from a stabbing that occurred shortly before midnight on June 12 near 14th Street and Washington Avenue on Guthrie’s west side. Related article: Guthrie man arrested following Friday night stabbing; one victim undergoes surgery
According to investigators, the incident began with an altercation at the Blowout Club in downtown Guthrie. Police allege Marchant later located the two men at a residence near 14th and Washington and attacked them with a knife.
Both victims suffered stab wounds. One victim was transported to Baptist Medical Center in stable condition, while the second victim was taken to OU Medical Center and underwent surgery for injuries to his abdomen. Both men have since returned home.
Marchant was arrested the following day by Guthrie Police after investigators developed leads identifying him as the suspect.
