Mercy Hospital Logan County has been recognized as one of the top rural hospitals in the nation.
The National Rural Health Association named Mercy Hospital Logan County to its annual list of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals for Best Practice in Quality. The ranking includes nearly 1,400 critical access hospitals across the country and is based on the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, which measures quality, patient perspectives, and other key performance indicators.
Mercy Hospital Logan County was one of three Mercy hospitals to make the national list, joining Mercy Hospital Tishomingo and Mercy Hospital Waldron in Arkansas.
“It’s hard to measure the immense pride we all have at Mercy as caregivers for our neighbors,” said Dustin Yowell, administrator of Mercy Hospital Logan County. “Logan County deserves nothing but the best and we’re so humbled to earn this recognition for our compassionate care.”
Critical access hospitals are small rural medical facilities designated by Medicare to improve access to healthcare in underserved communities. These hospitals are limited to 25 inpatient beds and are required to provide around-the-clock emergency services.
Mercy Hospital Logan County, affiliated with Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City, provides emergency care, imaging, therapy services, swing beds, Senior Life Solutions, and other healthcare services to the community.
National Rural Health Association officials said hospitals recognized on the list scored highly in quality-of-care measures important to rural healthcare settings.
