Over the fall break weekend, Guthrie Public Schools received approval to occupy the commons and kitchen areas at Charter Oak Elementary. Now, the district is hopeful to be serving meals in the cafeteria soon.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Devon Energy selected Guthrie’s FFA chapter to receive a $1,000 grant for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.

In a 61 minute special session on Tuesday evening, the Guthrie Board of Education accepted the resignation of Terry Pennington who represented ward number two for approximately the past five years. Pennington announced his intent to resign at a board meeting in August and delivered the resignation to the board clerk on September 10.
The votes are in and Charter Oak Elementary School is the winner of a $25,000 grant from State Farm. The funds will go toward the school’s playground equipment.
Homecoming is September 28, where the Guthrie Bluejays will be playing the Guymon Tigers at Jelsma Stadium with a kickoff set for 7 p.m. The annual coronation and crowning of the queen will take place during halftime of the football game.
After a lengthy discussion on Monday evening, the Guthrie Board of Education voted down the installation of a cornerstone and time capsule by the Grand Lodge for the newly built Charter Oak Elementary school.
While Charter Oak Elementary will not be a completed project when students arrive on Tuesday, the school grounds have taken shape in the past few days.
